Getting to Bilsington

Getting to Bilsington

The nearest mainline train station is Ashford International (not Ashford, Surrey, which is a totally different train station some distance away), which is served from London, Paris, Brussels, and Amsterdam. Cabs and private-hire cars are available from the station. All major rental car companies are represented in Ashford, should you wish to rent a car. Bilsington and the surrounding local villages are a 20 minute car ride from Ashford International train station.

For those driving: There is major disruption on the M20 due to our uncertain state in the EU. The motorway is a major route to Dover and operation Brock has been put in place. The speed limit for most of the journey is 50 miles per hour and it diverts you on to the northbound carriageway for part of the journey. THIS IS NOT MADE CLEAR and if you stay in the wrong lane you will be diverted back towards London which will cost you time. Please leave extra time for the journey especially as April 12th is the day before the wedding (our timing has been impeccable!). We are providing transport from the church to the reception venue. A cab from the station to the church should cost in the region of £15-20 if this helps you influence the decision on travel.

I have included some links below to help you.

From Abroad by Aeroplane: The easiest route to Bilsington is through a major international flight hubs in London, Paris, or Brussels, with onward travel to Ashford, Kent by train. We recommend those coming from non-EU destinations plan travel through London, as immigration from EU countries is an unknown after 29 March 2019 due to Brexit.

From Paris or Brussels (even Amsterdam, although the service is not as frequent) by Train: There are direct Eurostar trains to Ashford International. Please check the train schedule — not all trains stop at Ashford.

From London by Train: There is a fast train (38 minutes) from London St Pancras to Ashford International. There are also a number of stopping services which run from other stations, but please note there are two different stations called Ashford in the UK: Ashford International (in Kent) and Ashford, Surrey. There is no easy direct connection from any UK airport, so we recommend that you travel into London and connect there.
